Scholarship/Fellowship Information

AIA Triangle has a long history of supporting programs at the School of Architecture at North Carolina State University’s College of Design, including the Joint Lecture Series, student mentoring, AIAS and AIAS Forum grants, and sponsoring the school’s Urban Design Conference.  With this in mind, the AIA Triangle Board of Directors has worked toward establishing an AIA Triangle Scholarship/Fellowship fund.

AIA Triangle is strongly committed to fostering the development of students and our younger members to become the future generation of architects and leaders of our profession.  We have established an AIA Triangle Scholarship for undergraduates and a Fellowship for graduate students in the M Arch program.  Funds have been raised for seed money through various AIA Triangle events.  Funding for the Scholarship/Fellowship will continue through the growth of the golf tournament.

Both the Scholarship and Fellowship were awarded to two students in the School of Architecture by the AIA Triangle Board of Directors.  Each studio in the architecture program selects two students to exhibit their work to be juried by the Board to select a recipient of the Scholarship and Fellowship.

Recipients are announced at the School’s All School meeting at the beginning of the spring semester.  AIA Triangle Board members are on hand to present the awards and congratulate the recipients, who each receive Scholarships/Fellowships who receive funds to offset their tuition expenses each year.  With the help of the AIA National matching funds and further fund raising by AIA Triangle, our goal is to increase those amounts significantly to make the Scholarship/Fellowship an important contribution to the educational development of future professionals.

The Scholarship/Fellowship recipients are also honored and have their work exhibited at the annual AIA Triangle Design Awards Program.  Their work will be included in the Design Awards Traveling Exhibit displayed at various venues in the community throughout the year.  AIA Triangle is committed to help make this a significant contribution to the education of students of architecture and the first steps towards helping them become involved with their professional organization.
