Proper Brick Masonry Detailing

Program Description:

Methods for keeping water out of the wall assembly are top priority in this talk. We'll also discuss movement (expansion joints), how to add accent materials to a masonry wall, and special details such as corbelling and curved walls.

Learning Objectives:

1.  Participants will explore the weatherproofing and efficiency of water penetration management and keeping water out of wall assembly

2.  Participants will appraise and detect the use of movement joints and expansion joints for use in proper brick masonry

3.  Participants will identify the structural use of accent materials in structure

4. Participants will identify the structural use of special details such as corbelling and curved walls.

Presented by:

Steve Kegley Distributor Sales, Eastern US & Canada, Endicott Clay Products 

Steve currently holds the position of Distributor Sales in the Eastern US & Canada with 30 years’ experience in the construction materials industry, 25 years in brick sales.  He has served as a building envelope consultant to architects, construction managers and owner/developers in the development of building envelope systems both laid-in-place and panelized.  Certified by the BIA (Brick Industry Association) to provide professional continuing education to architects through multi-media presentations.  Steve is regularly involved in technical training programs for sales reps in the brick industry and have provided over 200 masonry courses to architects in his career. He serves on the Landscape Paver Committee for the BIA and have completed LEED AP certification training.
