2012 Residential Architecture Tour Jury Chair
Roberto de Leon, Jr., AIA, LEED

Roberto de Leon received a Master in Architecture from the Harvard University Graduate School of Design in 1993, and a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from the University of California at Berkeley  in 1989.  He has taught as an adjunct professor at the College of Design at the University of Kentucky, the College of Architecture at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and the Boston Architectural Center.

His design firm, DeLeon & Primmer Architecture Workshop, was established in 2003 as a design studio focusing on cultural & civic environments.  Based in Louisville, Kentucky, “the contextual specificity of the region is viewed as an open-ended opportunity for research & investigation”.  Their conversant process is employed for both residential and commercial projects.  In dialog with their clients, local builders and multidisciplinary trades, the studio is a collaborative environment that explores, tests and critiques.

Deleon & Primmer’s commitment to not-for-profit organizations and grass-roots efforts should not go unnoted.   Sparked by the desire use design skill and talents in building group concensus to enrich and nurture a community has helped to establish a practice grounded in the realities of architectural potential.

The firm was recognized as one of ten most progressive firms in 2010 when Architectural Record included them as part of their Architectural Vanguard.  In 2011, De Leon & Primmer was one of eight national firms to speak as part of the Architectural League of New York’s Emerging Voices Series.  Architect Magazine’s 2011 Annual Design Review, identified Riverview Park Visitor Service Building I as a top project of American architecture for the year.  For more information, please visit http://deleon-primmer.com/ .
