Career Stages and Support

Information relevant to each stage of an architect's professional career is readily available and AIA provides members easy access to a wealth of information and resources for all stages.

ARCHITECTS

AIA makes it easy to stay at the top of your field with courses on trending topics and a transcript service that keeps track of your AIA learning units. In addition to your AIA continuing education requirements, these courses are accepted by most state licensing boards.

Easy access to view your transcripts, discover current course offerings through AIAU, and determine AIA and state continuing education requirements.

Building Your Practice

AIA provides a wealth of information for building your practice including business intelligence, best practices tools, and partners tools. Practice information including business reports, research and data is a click away.

The 2030 Commitment

In 2006, Architecture 2030 issued the 2030 Challenge, a breakthrough vision that calls for all new buildings, developments, and major renovations to be carbon-neutral by 2030. To support this call to action, we created the AIA 2030 Commitment - a national framework with simple metrics and a standardized reporting format - to provide a structure for tracking progress and to help you meet the challenge.

STUDENTS, RECENT GRADS & NEWLY LICENSED ARCHITECTS

AIA's Center for Emerging Professionals is the voice and resource for architecture students, recent graduates and newly licensed architects. Whether you’re seeking information on licencing, information on testing, scholarships and grants, job prospects, leadership opportunities or entrepreneurial issues the Center for Emerging Professionals should be your first stop.

AIA Triangle's Young Architect Forum (YAF)

On a local level, AIA Triangle's Young Architect Forum (YAF) is a leadership development program of the AIA College of Fellows. It focuses on professional development, leadership, personal growth, and other important subjects relevant to young professionals and interns early in their career. The AIA Triangle YAF provides various outlets and activities, both professional and social where young architects (those licensed less than 10 years) can get together and discuss topics of interest and provides a network within the architectural community to tackle issues that concern them. For more information, visit the YAF website.

AIA Triangle's Leadership Forum

AIA Triangle's Leadership Forum provides access to a variety of speakers, design firms and activities for a select annual class of local Emerging Professionals. In lieu of other one-on-one mentorship models, this collaborative learning  program design works to cross-strengthen the entire class through pooled resources and reflective practice.

The AIA Triangle Leadership Forum connects a select group of area Emerging Professionals (unlicensed members and those licensed less than 10 years) with top leaders and architectural firms across the Triangle.

The program consists of a curated series of events designed to create an open dialogue between established architect-leaders and participating emerging professionals. Through conversations, panel discussions, workshops, and office/job-site tours, the Leadership Forum helps facilitate the passage of knowledge across generational and hierarchical gaps. For more information, visit the Leadership Forum website.

AIA Triangle's Theory Forum

Theory is a necessary part of the professional practice of architecture. Above our obligation as professionals to protect the health, safety, and welfare of those that use our buildings, we must also contribute to the richness of life by investing meaning in our designs—meaning informed by our education, our experiences, and the unique character of our region.

The Theory Forum was founded in 2009 by a group of AIA Triangle members dedicated to promoting interest in design as a conceptual pursuit. While local universities and museums play a crucial role inspiring and advancing design thought, the goal of the Theory Forum is to provide a venue for the exploration of critical thought specifically tailored to practicing design professionals and independent of established academic institutions.
