2016 Tour of Residential Architecture
The Ten at South Person, Raleigh in situ studio
Love Addition, Durham Ellen Cassilly, Architect
Hermitage Court, Durham Szostak Design
Morrison Residence, Chapel Hill Louis Cherry Architecture
Hillcrest House, Raleigh Alphin Design Build
The 2016 residences were selected by an independent architecture jury consisting of North Carolina architects Alice Dodson, AIA, PA, Alice Dodson Architect in Asheville, Michael Ross Kersting, AIA, PA, Kersting Architecture in Wilmington, and Jason Miller, AIA, NCARB, David Jason Miller Architect PLLC in Boone.
Jurors decided not to rank or give specific awards to any of the houses because, "We believe that due to the diversity we have selected, it is impossible to judge the merits of one being any better than the others."
Jurors also suggested a specific route to demonstrate to tour goers how architects can address site context, owner desires and objectives, and a diversity of means in a variety of settings, sizes and budgets. Stating, "We want the general public to understand the value of what an architect driven project can offer to people of all different means."
Tickets for the tour will be available on September 1st.
Architects of the featured residences will be recognized at the AIA Triangle Fall Membership Meeting on November 3, 2016 at the Stockroom in Raleigh.
